Rowan Biggs

Rowan Biggs grew up in Tahuna, Queenstown, and has Scottish, Irish and French ancestry. Rowan has an interest in public health, Māori & Pacific people’s health, paediatrics and neurology, and is committed to producing high-quality and equitable research. 

Rowan graduated with a medical degree from Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland in 2020, and has aspirations for further qualifications, including a future PhD. She has practiced medicine as a junior doctor in Tāmaki Makaurau for the past two years, working across Public Health, Women's Health, Paediatrics, General Medicine, Older Person's Health, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Cardiology. Rowan has completed a certificate in He Papa Tikanga through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, and will be commencing a Papa Reo year-long te reo Māori course at the end of 2022. 

Rowan completed a summer studentship with the Waipapa Taumata Rau in 2017 and received co-authorship in a publication in the Journal of Tissue Viability in 2020. Rowan has volunteered with both the Breast Cancer Foundation and World Vision, and was recognised with a Community Services Award in 2014.
